ateasa Adams’ fiance, Michael Rampey, went through a heart transplant in 2006 and later had been diagnosed with cancer. Tateasa claims he required specialized treatment that was only available at Massachusetts General Hospital. After an apparent financial struggle in 2012 Tateasa finally thought she found Employment with Six Flags. Little did she know they were just setting her up to be arrested for delinquent misdemeanor traffic offenses..
Adams applied for a job at Six Flags. She was later contacted by an employer and asked about something that showed up on her criminal background check. Adams told the employee about the missing court date, explaining she missed or was unable to pay for a traffic ticket due to her Fiance going through a heart transplant and battling cancer.
Six Flags later sent Adams an email confirming her appointment on February 29th for a “pre-appointment screen.” She was told to dress in business attire because it was an interview.
Adams arrived early. When she got there she claims she sat down in a room with a video camera. They took her license and had her fill out a second application. 45 minutes later, she was detained by the Cobb County Police. Six Flags contacted the police on her, they apparently had no intention of hiring her.
In my opinion this is a terrible thing to do to someone.  From what I gather in both articles (Article 1 & Article 2) I would assume with her fiance going through both a heart transplant and a fight with cancer Tateasa was probably going through difficult financial times. I can see where she would miss a court date and then have a problem paying a ticket because of the ongoing battle with cancer that her fiance was going through. I understand that you can get detained for any warrant no matter what crime the warrant was issued for.
What I don’t understand is what would make a company hate someone so much that they would knowingly ask her to come into a job interview and then call the police and have her arrested when she shows up. What would make you want to step on someone that was going through such a terrible time in their moment where they were starting to see the light? The employees at this location must love picking someone up and then crushing them hard just to watch them fall.
Regardless of the reason, I refuse to support actions like these. I do not see race here, I see a woman who is struggling to make ends meet who is trying to do the right thing. I see a company who set her up, got her hopes up, and then crushed her by calling the police. I personally, will never set foot in a six flags amusement park after becoming aware of her story…
Wow! That’s insane. I kept waiting for you to tell the kicker of the story, but there was not one! It just seems so unbelievable as to why with no reason at all for Six Flags to do all that! Very strange and damn right wrong.
