Nocturnus Libertus posted a video on Sunday of Jamari Williams illegally stealing a confederate flag off of an unknown persons house.  We wonder why these people are not prosecuted when they upload criminal activities to their own facebook page. What more evidence do you need?

They shouldn’t do that, but I can understand why they do. It might be this cool symbol of rebellion to you, something to fly to stick it to annoying pc liberals, and certainly they are annoying.
But consider what it means to a people who were denied basic human dignity for the entire history of the United states. Racism didn’t end with slavery. It didn’t end with the civil rights act either though those were certainly great moments. Institutional racism is very much real. Black people of all social classes are one police stop away from being killed. This is but one example among thousands.
So consider it a sort of civil disobedience, it is destruction of property to be sure but these people very much have a reason to be hostile to a flag raised over lynching, raised over state capitol s in the wake of civil rights victories, raised by the ku klux klan.
Raising the flag is a micro aggression towards black people and your potential ignorance of the effect it has does not absolve you.
People have a right to fly the Confederate battle flag. What people DON’T have the right to do is trespass,, vandalize, and steal. If this goes on long enough someone is eventually going to get shot, and the land owner will likely be justified.
I’ll admit that cops don’t always do the right thing, but in most cases they are only reacting to the situation at hand. It’s not like they are running around shooting people in cold blood. If you go after a cop’s gun you are going to get shot. If you don’t cooperate you are going to get pinned. Is excessive force necessary?. Of course not, but look at the facts and see each incident for what it is instead of balling them all up into one big generalization. Also, there are just as many Caucasians killed by cops as African Americans. You just don’t hear about it as often, and you do the spin is completely different. All the mainstream media cares about is ratings. It is extremely easy to sensationalize race issues because no matter what side you are on everybody has an opinion.
Yes, the Klan uses the flag. They use crosses too.. Do we ban those as well?
Basing opinions on assumptions and generalization is the definition of ignorance.
