Apparently if you’re an Iraq War Veteran with PTSD and you bring your service dog with you to Whitey’s Bar and Grill in Lisbon Iowa, the bar owner (Daron “Whitey” Rubner) will assault you and accuse you of lying about your disability. The story to the right claims that it was covered by the media nationally however we find this to not be true. The video received 583 views as of 7/27/2015. The incident happened around July 5th 2015. We don’t’ consider that “massive attention” ourselves.
Police reports show Friday night after 11 p.m., police were called to the bar for a assault over “Elvis.” Elvis is Russell’s emotional support dog. The dog helps him with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Russell claims he was “grabbed by his throat and hit in the back of his head.”
“I tried to explain to him, Elvis was helping me he got very, very upset after that and proceeded to smash a bottle at the bar in front of (Kelee) and I,” – Chazz Russell (Iraq War Veteran)
Under Iowa law 216C.11 SERVICE DOGS AND ASSISTIVE ANIMALS, an “emotional support dog” like “Elvis” is technically a service dog. The wording states “For purposes of this section, ‘service dog’ means a dog specially trained at a recognized training facility to assist a person with a disability, whether described as a service dog, an independence dog, or otherwise.” “The law states that a service dog can enter an establishment at any time,”
Police Chief Scott said there are pending charges that may involve multiple people. The problem is the amount of people on social media making death threats against the police force. Apparently people became enraged about charges not being filed immediately, so they began threatening the police. The illwriteit team advises people to leave the police force alone, because it is only hampering the investigation. The police chief is also apparently a veteran. If you call him and threaten his life, you’re threatening a Veteran’s life because you’re upset at an incident involving another veteran.
“Social media has been very hard on me – a lot of threats of myself and my family, We’ve had threats of getting our throats sliced,” – Police Chief Rick Scott”
Even more disturbing.....
The above is the opinion of what I consider a few ungrateful people. They somehow came to that conclusion after watching the story on the news, and reading original story. Hard for me to believe they appreciate anything the US military does for them. Their profiles are as follows:
it would be good to hear about the outcome, sorry I tried to add this, before I realized you all ready posted it,told you I am a dinosaur.dis-respect the vet and the dog, what the hell is the country turning into?
