Youssif, Omar arrested for alleged child abuse.
Youssif Z. Omar, 53, of Columbia, Missouri was reported to authorities on Tuesday for alleged child abuse. Omar grabbed his 14-year-old daughter’s hair at Hickman High School and dragged her down a flight of stairs for refusing to wear a hijab. A hijab is a garment Muslim women wear as a headscarf.
Officer Latisha Stroer told Columbia Tribune that Omar grabbed his daughter’s hair violently and slapped her. He proceeded to drag her down a flight of stairs and then push her into his car.
Omar was then arrested the next day at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday at his home without resisting.
Omar has been released with posted bail of 4500$ from Boone county Jail.
