The Rev. Jesse Jackson has been quite busy organizing a protest in Chicago on Black Friday. The events are set to begin at 11 a.m. and are promised by the Reverend to remain “peaceful”. That promise hasn’t worked out so well the past few days. Always happy to incite anyone who will listen, the Reverend has called on many youth leaders, religious heads, and activists in Chicago.
This march has been promised to be larger than any thus far. The focus being on “showing we are a city corrupted by police”. Interesting choice of timing, considering so many black supremacist groups have called for their followers to sit out the largest shopping day of the year. Not out of any calls for “justice” but because they don’t want to participate in giving money to Americans. Jackson is also calling for a meeting of black organization leaders within the next few days.
The guest list includes Marc Morial of the National Urban League, Clyde Brooks of the NAACP and Al Sharpton.
CPD are prepared for demonstrations and peaceful protests. Plans bt the department include to have large presence downtown and on North Michigan Avenue. No street closures are planned. Protests are planned at 3 different locations, including the Magnificent Mile.
On Thanksgiving, the desire for the resignations of Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy and Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez were continually vocalized.
